Impostor Syndrome Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will

Impostor Syndrome Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will

Sins and Scars didn’t start as Sins and Scars. It started as a handful of names that felt loud enough, sharp enough, wild enough to carry the thing I was trying to build. The adrenaline complex. The midnight conclave. Asphalt and adrenaline. Blood, Sweat and Brand. Type and quil. Valor and verse. Every one of them was a spark I tried to turn into a fire. Hell, that might not even be all of them!

I started each one with the same intention. Build an apparel company. Build a community around it. Build something that didn’t feel disposable. Something that felt alive. Something that meant something. And every time, before the idea could take its first real breath, I walked away. Not because the idea was weak. Not because the name was wrong. But because imposter syndrome hits fast and hard when you’re trying to build something that feels bigger than you.

There is a moment that hits every creator. A moment where the voice in your head becomes louder than the one in your chest. Where you start believing that nobody will care, nobody will show up, nobody will understand what you’re trying to build. I let that moment win more times than I want to admit. I quit quietly. I quit early. I quit before my friends even knew I started. I let ideas die before they ever had the chance to breathe.

But there’s a truth you eventually run into. You don’t outrun imposter syndrome by abandoning the work. You outrun it by building anyway. You outrun it by showing up even when your confidence is thin. You outrun it by choosing to believe that the thing you’re creating deserves to exist, even if you’re still learning how to build it.

Sins and Scars is the first name that didn’t get abandoned. Not because it was perfect. Not because it was the strongest idea. But because I finally stopped walking away from the things I wanted to build. I stayed. I kept working even when the doubt was loud. I gave the idea room to grow instead of suffocating it with hesitation.

This brand wasn’t born from confidence. It was born from persistence. From choosing to keep going when every part of me wanted to let it disappear. From refusing to let another idea die quietly in a notebook. From finally understanding that the only way to build something meaningful is to keep showing up long enough for it to take shape.

Sins and Scars is the name that stayed because I stayed. It is the first idea I didn’t abandon. It is the first time I chose to trust the work instead of the fear of not succeeding. And everything that comes next will be built on that choice.

At some point you have to stop waiting for permission and step into the thing you keep saying you want. Comfort zones feel safe, but they are where ideas go to suffocate, to die. Imposter syndrome only wins when you let it. Kick that shit right in the face. Build the thing. Start the project. Take the risk. Give your dream a chance to breathe.

If you want a place to talk about what you are building, what you are fighting for, and what you are trying to create, the Sins and Scars Discord is open.
